Kore

Kore, daughter of Demeter,

She is beautiful and stunning.

Alas, her mother could not keep her,

To Hades she went running.

She ate pomegranate seeds; only six,

and Demeter let the crops die,

For six months Persephone lived near the Styx,

And the other six, Demeter let the crops survive.

That was how spring and winter were born,

She finally lived happily ever after.

Her mother raged and burned all the corn,

Demeter's family vision was shattered.
