A Song of Comfort

Regular, repeated patterns of movement or sound

Anxious creatures like us find comfort in repetition,

In rhythm.

Our little minds insist on coming up with patterns, schedules, timetables

To be able to live each day like the previous

Not straying too far into the unknown,

Because that makes us uneasy.

We can’t determine what lies in the unknown,

We’re uncomfortable there because for the first time in our lives –

We wouldn’t have a plan lying ahead of us

And that is what makes us anxious.

We’re anxious creatures

We find comfort in rhythm

We don’t like change

Yet change remains a part of our rhythm.
