“You don't have to do it”
“You know I do”
“Don’t you love them?”
I looked at my friend, and with pity in their eyes, they stared back at me.
I reached the place.
The same lake between the dark forest where we met.
I looked behind me, near the bushes where I just heard some hustling.
“A pretty woman like you shouldn't be alone here”
I heard a voice. It sounded demanding but soft
I was in the lake. Wearing my thin satin dress. Which probably revealed everything.
I dipped inside the lake more
“You don't have to hide. I won't look'”
I looked at them then. Their back was towards me.
“Who are you?”
I hummed and he looked back.
I reached the place. There were those eyes again. The ruthless eyes which always looked at me lovingly.
“I’m sorry” I whispered.
“Don't be. Do it. It's important”
I took out my knife, and aligned it to his heart.
If only, if only our families weren't fighting. If only our love wasn't hated. If only, I wasn't commanded to kill him.
He held his hand firmly on mine.
“I told you we'd always be together”, I said, bringing out my other knife and handing it to him in his other hand. He looked into my eyes.
“I can't”, he said.
“They will find us where we go. This is our only option.”
I got closer to him, hugging him all the way.
I don't know what happened next,
when the knives pierced our hearts.
