My Soldier

His body was a canvas of violence,

His last memory of anything but peace.

As he was brought home wrapped in the flag

There was a smile on his face,

Calm, proud and full of peace.

Though his day had come and gone,

At Least he had served his motherland for long.

With not an ounce of hesitation,

As he laid his life down for his nation.

And now all I do these days,

Is look up at the stars in the sky,

Just like the ones on his shoulders,

And think of his smile,

Only a million times brighter.
