it is in our nature
we either want to fit in
or to stand out.
we strive to make
our own mark in the world
to be seen, heard, and accepted.
we are different from one another,
unique, diverse, beautiful;
but we are divided.
whether by race, colour, culture
by country, the seas, the oceans
somehow, we have decided
that we cannot be one.
that diversity cannot be accepted
that we need to relate to those of our kind
to be able to love or cherish them.
is it not obvious?
petals, leaves, roots
they are all parts of the same flower.
glaciers all melt into one
rivers all flow into the sea
oceans all connect to one another.
lands cannot be divided
they are simply out of reach.
even all the land in the world cannot keep us apart
for we have the power of glass screens and airports.
with all the uniquities in the world,
we come from the same earth
we love the same movies, the same books.
the same history
the same love
the same roots.
