The Dark

The dark blanket envelops me in its arms

Eagerly canoodling the trickling tears

An eerie calm envelops me in sangfroid

My bones are numb, but my soul is wild.

The dark has blinded my demons

Unleashing a cascade of stifled angst;

A fervent mania seizes over my limbs

Convulsing arms extricate held inmates.

The dark endows me with my own reign

Free of terrors, broken fragments induce

Paralyzing peace that alarmed me once

Now I welcome it with my arms wide open.
