What do you want to escape from? Are you doing it right now too? Are you sitting in front of your laptop or scrolling through your phone in prospects of running away from something you should be dealing with?
What is escapism if not the act of bottling up the reality and throwing it in the sea with hopes of never finding it again but seeing it reappear on the threshold of your house the moment you thought you had escaped it.
We are confronted with way more reality than any of us can stomach and we are offered even more ways to escape it.
Everyone says, “Live your life to the fullest and that every second counts.” But the truth is that we all are looking for places to dump our misery in. We don’t confront things we don't want to deal with because staring at a screen and binge-watching that series seems easier than processing everything that has happened.
The question is, “Haven't you ever felt the need to escape from everything and start somewhere new? Somewhere where people won’t have expectations from you and you won't be answerable to them?
There is only so much that can be mentioned as an excuse to feel the way you do about escapism.
Yes, maybe escaping the situation seems like the best solution to problems but till when will you run from them? It's like a circle---the circle of eternal pain. We run away from something in the hopes of never encountering it again but we forget that it's a circle; the things we keep running away from are gonna haunt us back. We will find ourselves in the same kind of situations, with the same context, feeling the same emotions, over and over again, until and unless we try and do something about it.
THE BEST WAY TO KEEP A PRISONER FROM ESCAPING IS TO MAKE SURE HE NEVER KNOWS HE IS IN PRISON.
I hope you do not become the prisoner of things you are escaping right now.
